A 12 month update

Can you believe my sweet baby girl is already one? I sure can't! The last year has seemed to just fly by with my little girl in tow. She has grown so much and accomplished so much in her short time so far on earth. Here are the "stats" if you will at her twelve month mark.

Height: 29 1/4 inches- 50th percentile
Weight: 17 lbs 6 oz- 3rd percentile
*** Joanna somehow contracted Salmonella a few weeks before her birthday and was a very sick     little girl. As a result she lost some weight and dropped from the 10th to the 3rd percentile. Her pediatricians have kept a close eye on her though, and at her 12 month appointment she was pronounced a healthy little girl.

Appearance: She still clearly is working on growing a full head of hair, and what she has still basically grown in a mowhawk. What she has is a very light brown. She also has big, sparkling blue eyes, and long pretty lashes.

Teeth: Zero! They should come in within the next six months. Her Daddy and Mommy got teeth around a year old so her toothlessness at one is not a big shocker.

Likes: Mommy, push toys like her stroller and her tractor, playing with chunky puzzles, board books, putting things into containers and taking them out again, Mommy, putting things into the washing machine, swimming and bath time, the dog, tosses from daddy, giving hugs, Mommy, stuffed animals and her baby doll, Mommy, climbing stairs (she's a pro and has started going down them with supervision), animals of all shapes and sizes, babbling in her own little language, singing, eating snacks, walking, Mommy and Daddy... oh, and did I mention that she really, really, REALLY, R-E-A-L-L-Y likes Mommy right now? Yeah, she's a little clingy right now

Dislikes: nap time and bed time, mommy or daddy leaving the room or leaving her with a babysitter

Favorite Foods: yogurt, cheese, crackers, bunny grahams/teddy grahams/gold fish, whole milk, popsicles, chicken

Favorite Games: tosses from daddy, singing with Mommy, emptying and filling containers, tormenting the dog, getting into EVERYTHING (her favorite right now is pulling all the bowls, strainers and pots and pans out of the one cabinet that isn't locked up; oh and also putting things into our washing machine and emptying the dish washer)

Personality Characteristics: Giggle monster, chatter box, funny noise maker. Joanna is a very happy baby. From the time she was born she has been a very pleasant baby with a slightly goofy personality. She loves to sing along to music and she has the most infectious little giggle you have ever heard. She rarely cries- only when she is tired, hungry or wants mommy. She is a very active and independent little girl and doesn't like to be held when she wants to be moving. However, she is also a very affectionate child and recently has started to give hugs. She will walk up and hug your leg, or if you are sitting on the floor she will crawl into your lap and throw her arms around your neck. It's incredibly endearing. She spends most of her day narrating all her activities. She chatters constantly in her own little language, but will say "Dada", "ma" (more), and "hi". She is a little flirt, but she is very clingy to Mommy right now and prefers Mom to all other people (much to Daddy's dismay and he was hoping for a little "daddy's girl")

Sleep habits: Joanna has been a good sleeper from the time she was born. She sleeps 12-13 hours at night, from about 8 PM to 8 AM. She takes 1-2 naps each day, depending on what our activities are that day. Her naps last from 1 to 3 1/2 hours. She has recently started to resist sleep (since giving up the bed time/ nap time bottle), and will cry for up to 30 minutes after she has been put down, but once she is asleep she sleeps all night. She is an active sleeper; she seems to use every square inch of her crib throughout the night.

Eating Habits: Lately Joanna is an eating machine! This might be in part because of her recent illness, but she LOVES to eat! This is a big change from a few months ago when she hardly ate anything at all. She loves to eat and doesn't really have any foods she doesn't eat.

The first year with Joanna has been exciting, and busy and absolutely perfect! We love this beautiful little girl and can't wait to see what this next year has in store for her!
