Those of you who are friends on Facebook probably get sick of the repeated pictures. I apologize, but since I use my blog somewhat in place of journaling and scrapbooking that's the way it goes.
As of today Molly and I have been home from the hospital for two weeks. The transition from one child to two has been remarkably smooth. Joanna is such a great big sister and loves to help with the baby. She has her moments, but she really is a fantastic (almost) two year old! Molly is still in the stage where she sleeps, eats, and needs her diaper changed, but we are all loving every minute with her. So far it's hard to tell what her personality will be like, but I have noticed a few differences. For one, Molly loves to be cuddled even more than her sister did. Joanna would eat and then go right back to sleep in the middle of the night. Molly takes at least 15 minutes of cuddling and rocking to drift off. She is also much less demanding than her sister was. Joanna was a great baby, but when she wanted something she would let you know it, and LOUDLY. Molly has a good set of lungs on her too, but she is a little more patient when waiting for food, or cuddles, or a diaper change. That's not to say there isn't a fair amount of time when Molly is fussy, just that she will usually give me a little longer than Joanna did before she is screaming. Good thing she's a little more patient too, since she has such a demanding big sister. :-)
At two weeks old Molly weighed 6 lbs 15 oz (10th percentile), was 20 inches long (40th percentile) and her head was in the 45th percentile. She's growing like a little weed! Because she is more proportional than Joanna was she seems chubby by comparison. She's still on the skinnier side for her height, but because she's shorter than Joanna she seems to have more too her. It's kind of fun having a snuggly, chubby baby after having such a string bean. Other physical difference from Joanna: she has a TON of hair, Joanna was practically bald; Joanna has these GIGANTIC eyes, Molly's are more similar in shape to Christian/my Mom/My sister; Molly's eyes are darker. They might end up blue, but I would not be surprised in the least if they end up brown. Her skin color seems a little darker and more olive than Joanna's, and her hair seems a little darker. They do look a lot alike, or at least they look like sisters. They have the same nose (it's inevitable- the Kester nose seems to be controlled by dominant genes ;-)), and they both sleep really well at night!
I have been blessed to have two babies that are good sleepers. We have gotten a 5-6 hour stretch out of Molly every night since her first in the hospital. It's a real blessing, especially for a Mom who is not sane without sleep.
And now for a few pictures:
