18 Months!

I’m a few weeks late in posting this, but better late than never. I can’t believe this little sweetie is a year and a half already! Boy does time fly by fast with kids! She’s growing up so fast. In the past few weeks she’s gone from a vocabulary of only a few words, to well over a dozen: Mama, Dada, Papa, Tieger (our Dog), stinky, uh oh, on no, yeah, sippy, nuh night, hello- to name a few. She not only walks, she runs, climbs furniture, walks up and down stairs if you hold her hand, walks backwards, spins in circles, and sometimes crawls around just to be silly. She loves dance (especially with her Daddy) and sing along to music.

Her favorite toys include her Noah’s Ark, Legos, her kitchen, her stroller, her stuffed animals and blankets, pots and pans, laundry baskets, books, the dog and Daddy. She loves to go for walks, but not if you put her in the stroller. She loves to color and do art projects, but sometimes tries to color her shirt, her sippy or the dog.

She’s growing like a weed these days! She went from 18 lbs 15 oz (3rd percentile) at 15 months to 20 lbs 14 oz (10th percentile) at 18 months. She also grew 2 inches, from 31 to 33 inches, in those 3 months and jumped from the 75th to the 80th percentile in height! How she’s growing so fast is a mystery. Some days she eats everything in sight, and other days she won’t eat more than 3 bites. Typical of a kid her age I’m sure, but still worrisome to her Mom at times. Her favorite foods are cheese, milk, Mac n’ Cheese, spaghetti, fruit, and sweets.

Turning 18 months also meant a milestone for Joanna at Church. During Sunday School she get’s to go to Nursery, a class for kids 18 months to 3 years. Because our ward (congregation) has so many children in this age group we actually have 3 nurseries so Joanna goes to a class with kids 18 to 24 months. The first few weeks they have the parent stay with the child to help them transition easier. My little miss independent however only needed me the first hour. She loves to play with the other kids, loves the art projects they do every week, and the slide. Here are a few pictures from her first week.

And some pictures of her first ever art project (we have since reminded her teachers of how to spell her name).

It’s so fun to watch her grow up! She’s hit another milestones lately too. She transitioned from a high chair to a booster seat at dinner, learned how to eat cereal and milk with a spoon and not make a mess, and is learning how to put away her toys. Crazy! What’s next? In the next few months she’ll be transitioning to a toddler bed (so that her little sister can have the crib), become a big sister, and who knows what else. She’s becoming my big girl and not my baby.
